REFLECTIVE THREE TO FIVE PAGE PAPER ON ONE OF THE ILLINOIS PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS

The purpose of this assignment is to develop the skills of reflection and goal-setting for professional growth... Your Reflective Paper will be based on your choice of one of the eleven teaching standards for professional growth and development adopted by the State of Illinois, the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards (IPTS). You will identify one of the professional standards as the basis for your personal professional goals..

  • The content of the Reflective Paper will consist of these items
    1. identification of one of the professional teaching standards.
    2. a statement of reflection on that standard and what it means.
  • 3. how you might apply that standard to your professional growth and development.
  • 4. Submit your Reflective Paper by Friday, July 20 through the "Special Project Assignments" icon.
  • 6. The Reflective Paper should be the beginning of professional goal-setting and professional growth for the individual student.
  • 7. The Reflective Paper will be evaluated on the basis of fifty (50) points.

    • PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS: Adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards may be found at the ISBE web site (http://www.isbe.net/profprep/PDFs/ipts.pdf), and may be downloaded, or simply copied from the screen. These standards serve as the basis for evaluation of teacher-preparation programs in Illinois for the purpose of accrediting them.

    In addition, the assignment gives focus to your individual professional and intellectual growth goals. The assignment will cause you to think about what you want to accomplish during this semester, and how to provide evidence (at least to yourself) that you have accomplished your goals.

    The purpose of this assignment is to develop the skills of reflection and goal-setting for professional growth. The Reflective Paper will be based on the characteristics of professional growth and development for teachers adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education. Only one of the standards need to be addressed in this assignment for each individual.
