Steve Jobs

by bhemenwa

Here is a link from an article in the The Chronicle of Higher Education on how Steve Jobs revolutionized higher education.

Imagine college without laptops or computer labs.  Imagine college without access to databases for research projects (in the "old" days you had to actually read through all the books and articles to find what you were looking for).

Whether you are an Apple fan or not, it's hard to discredit the extent that these innovations have had on modern society and education.

American Jobs Act

by bhemenwa

Here is the Presidents address last night on his new "American Jobs Act".  In Macroeconomics we will talk a great deal about this issue after our first test but its worthwhile to start following it now.  For those with a more politically based mindset its interesting how President Obama draw the lines for the next election.

Here is an interesting article from the New York Times about the TYPE of jobs that need to be created.  I don't agree with all of the commentary but it does provide a nice starting point for a future conversation.

Macroeconomics Students:  I STRONGLY suggest getting Assign 4.1, submitted early.  The next few assignments will build off the principles of Supply and Demand, any issues you have with the graphing will only be compounded with these assignments…  in other words, you will lose a significant number of points!  Turning in the assignment early will allow us both time to work on any disconnection you may have.

Also, if anyone is interested in the program that will allow you to submit the graphs electronically please send me an email.  It is a free program and makes it easier to email work and create clean, easy to read graphs.
