Math 117 - Homework Problems

Practice is essential to success in any mathematics course. As such, there is homework assigned for each of the 35 sections in the text. Each section is worth three points and so there is a possibility of 105 points of homework. The score will be out of 100 points when recorded in the grade book, so it is possible to get 5 points of extra credit when doing the homework. Homework is not optional in this class as it is in some of my other classes. It is absolutely imperative that you do homework for success in this class.

You are to grade your own homework using the solutions to the problems in the back of the text. In some cases, there will be problems assigned that are not included in the solutions in the back. Most of these problems are from matching sections where we've gone through the answers in class, but if you're not sure whether or not your answer is correct, check with the instructor. Record the number of problems correct out of the total, give a percent, and a score for each section according to the chart below. Transfer the score for each section onto this grading sheet and turn this grading sheet in along with the homework at the beginning of the class period on the day of the exam.

Scoring (per section)
3 pts : 85 - 100% correct
2 pts : 70 - 84% correct
1 pt : 50 - 69% correct
0 pts : under 50 % correct

All exercises are odd except where noted.
