Entering the Data
- Label two columns as "male" and "female"
- Enter the self-esteem scores into the proper columns.
Performing the Hypothesis Test (Questions 11-14)
The hypothesis test will display the descriptive statistics for you, so you
don't need to do them separately.
- Go to Stat / Basic Statistics / 2 Sample T
- Click on the Samples in different columns radio button
- The first sample is male and the second sample is female
- Click Options
- Make sure the alternative hypothesis is set correctly (see question 6)
and that the confidence level is the complement of the significance level.
- The "test difference" should be 0, that is, there is no (zero)
difference
- Click OK
